Hail and Well Met!

Welcome to the Village of Serenity Wood. Our Renaissance village is a unique place, bringing together many disperate cultures and cohabitating communities to educate and advance the Pax Populi or 'Peace of the People'.

One weekend each year, Serenity Wood hosts a two-day festival in honor of the reign of Her Royal Majesty, Queen Eleanor. Upon the cannon blast, Queen Eleanor bids her Lord Mayor to open the borders of Serenity Wood to the modern world. All are welcome and invited to attend this annual celebration.

- Enter in Peace -
- Depart in Joy -

Within the walls of Serenity Wood, you will find numerous markets where our merchants offer their unique wears. Visit the artisans who demonstrate lives once lived.

Witness, if you will, our Knights and sellswords, mercenaries and soldiers display their hard won prowess. Survey the proud Norsemen at the Viking encampment as they demonstrate their crafts and skills. Visit, if you dare, the Brethren of the Great Lakes. Pirates, sometimes commissioned by Her Majesty as privateers against Her worst enemies, at times cause Her to wonder if they are entirely loyal.

And before you leave our magical village, settle in to Huzzah! at the Joust and accompany Queen Eleanor at court and on Promenade as she leads a parade through the streets. And finally, as the sun begins to set on the faire day, join our performers as they gather together at the Pickled Princess Pub for fellowship, singing and celebration.

** Our History **

Travel through our magical gate and visit the time-protected lands of our realm. Within the boundaries of Serenity Wood, you will discover paths to worlds long faded into memory. Adventure your way through past ages at the height of their respective civilizations:

Elizabethan Era
The English Renaissance ran from the early 1500's to the 1600's. The Elizabethan Era during Queen Elizabeth 1's reign, the focus of the festival, was the height of this period. It was a time of internal peace, exploration and expansion, music and art. Notably, William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe composed their plays during this time.

Golden Age of Piracy
The "Golden Age" immediately followed the English Renaissance and ran from the 1650's to the 1720's. Focused mainly in the Caribbean, it began as nations vied for Spanish riches taken from South America. Privateering commissions were issued allowing ships to attack vessels from other countries. Once commissions were halted, many privateers, now unemployed, turned to freelance piracy.

Viking Age
This period began on June 16, 793 when Norsemen attacked the abbey on Lindisfarne, England. It ended in the early 1000's. During this long period, the seafaring Scandinavia warriors used long ships to raid, trade and establish colonies across Europe, and scholars believe even made it as far as North America. Typically portrayed by europeans as bloodthirsty savages, the Norse were in fact proud warriors and traders from Norway, Denmark and Sweden with a high value for honor.

Faerie Tales
Tales and myths are prevalent in all societies, but they are not required to actually involve fairies. The story needs only to inspire imagination and creativity. Subscribing to no particular genre or time period, all manner of creature and kind have a home here in the Wood. You should certainly expect to see classic Grimm's tales roaming our streets. Keep a eye out for satyrs, dragons, ogres, gnomes, elves and so much more.
